MTO Schedule 1 Inspection Checklist | CVOR Compliance
Preparing for an MTO inspection requires attention to detail. Missing or illegible compliance lettering is a common cause of avoidable fines and delays during roadside checks in Ontario.
Essential Vehicle Marking Requirements
To meet provincial standards, commercial vehicles must display specific identifiers clearly. Ensure your fleet is equipped with:
- CVOR/NSC Numbers: High-visibility decals placed according to regulatory positioning.
- GVW Markings: Accurate Gross Vehicle Weight lettering on both sides of the vehicle.
- Conspicuity Tape: Retroreflective markings that meet CMVSS 108 standards for night-time visibility.
The Cost of Non-Compliance
An inspection failure often stems from faded, peeling, or incorrectly sized decals. Whether you operate a single truck in Ontario or a national fleet across BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, consistent lettering is the first line of defence against compliance penalties.
