What is CVOR and Why Do You Need It?

The Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR) system is mandatory for operators of commercial motor vehicles (trucks and buses) in Ontario. If your vehicle has a gross weight or registered gross weight over 4,500 kg (9,920 lbs), you are required by law to register for a CVOR certificate.

But registration isn't enough — you must display this information clearly. Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) officers and police patrolling the 401, 403, QEW, and 406 corridors are actively looking for improper identification. A missing or illegible decal can result in a "Failure to Display" citation, negatively impacting your carrier safety rating and increasing insurance premiums.

MTO Decal Requirements (The 50mm Rule)
